PLASTIC DOLL TO MAKE LIFE WORTHWHILE

I've been cautious in my appreciation of the forthcoming Twyla doll. To me the daughter of the Boogeyman looked more like the daughter of the Pastel Chalk Monster (which, of course, doesn't exist -- that we know of). The doll's been making the rounds in covert ways as always seems to be the case with new characters. I've heard talk that this is due to the fact that big box retailers simply have a complicated ordering system that delays these things, while certain smaller stores with less complicated systems can get them considerably faster. That sounds like something that is probably quite accurate and true. Nonetheless, I'm still not entirely unconvinced that Mattel doesn't have some sort of black magic deal with the devil that makes these things happen, therefore leading to feverish excitement and that "gotta have it!" mentality that so often takes over us collectors.

ANYWAY, with these covert Twylas infiltrating the various online social media sites, we've gotten to see more and more of her. And I gotta say -- she looks pretty damn amazing! No, I still don't think she looks like the daughter of the Boogeyman. In fact, as I've said before, she very much doesn't look like any particular monster at all. But she does look gorgeous. Like I said over at MHD, she looks fun, flirty, and mischievous. Her drawing looks amazing, as well. At first I actually liked the drawing more than the doll; now that I've seen the doll out-of-box I think she perfectly matches her artwork.

You can see her drawing in glorious HQ here. My Dolls Are My Models has a wonderful closeup of her face here. And pictures of her diary can be viewed here.

PS -- Bonus points to anyone who can guess what fictional cartoon newspaper I paraphrased for this posts (very tongue in cheek) title.

  1. LOL This is the best title ever, even if I don't know the reference... I got a solid laugh out of it :D

    1. Lol glad you liked it! I'm gonna wait a bit before I tell what it's from -- someone may just recognize it! :)

I do feel it perfectly describes the excitement we all get over the new character dolls -- albeit in a very self-deprecating way!

    2. Speaking of The Simpsons, what did you think of the movie?

If the whole town moved to Alaska, Moe should rename his bar "Eski-Moe's"
      LOL Geddit?
Yeah, I just had to include a dumb joke.

    3. Hehe :) I thought the movie was pretty good. I'm glad it went over really well with the general public, though. But overall it wasn't near the comedic brilliance that was peak Simpsons aka seasons three through nine.

  2. Is it this?
The Springfield Shopper - The Simpsons.
I did a Google image search of the Sprinfield Shopper, the titles are so ridiculous, I can't stop laughing. Hahaha :D

Anyways, I thinks Twyla is such a cutie, I'll definitely be getting her (and Gigi).

    1. It is! I'm a Simpsons fanatic and the newspaper headlines were always some of my favorite gags on the show -- but you had to look fast! Good job picking up on my subtle clue and hunting it down! :)

And yes, Twyla is definitely a cutie! My doubts about her have all but vanished.

    2. Yay! I win! Now, what form do my 'bonus points' come in?
      Lol, I'm just kidding.
      I like these headlines,
'Quimby re-elected by landslide - Two more bodies surface in Springfield Harbor'
'Alcohol prohibited in Springfield - Bums threaten to leave town'
'Burns' birthday today - Credits long life to Satan'
      Lots of other hilarious titles.

I'm going out to look for more dolls, hopefully Jinafire's finally been released down here. Wish me luck!

    3. Oh the Simpsons newspaper headlines are classic! My favorite of the ones you listed is the Burns one -- Mr. Burns in general cracks me up.

And yes, good luck! Fingers crossed you find your Jina!

    4. I went looking. No such luck. :(
So I bought her on Amazon along with the coffin bean playset. They're due around 8th of May. Here's hoping I don't get a wonky-eyed Jinafire.

    5. FWIW I haven't heard about too many Jina's having wonk-eye :) I think you're safe! And woo-hoo -- she's on her way to you as I type! You have much to look forward to. :D
