C.A. Cupid to lead fantasy-based MH spinoff?

A huge thanks to Draconia St. George over at MHD for pointing this out! It seems Olympus has called upon Cupid to help others in a new place called Village of Bookend. Links will be provided below for all the details, but basically it looks as though Cupid will be the lead-in to a new fantasy-based world spun-off from Monster High! But what does this all entail? A new webseries? A line of books? (The book theme features heavily in the environments being teased on the site.) And best of all, possibly a new doll line? It's hard to say this early in. Next week more clues will be revealed, but it looks as though you will need to find the "codes" within the environments to get the details. It's all pretty exciting, and personally, I really like what I'm seeing within the keyholes!

Follow these links for the overall setup and to view each of the keyholes:

On Air With Cupid
Village of Bookend
Rewrite Destiny
Royal or Rebel

So what are your theories? What do you think of the clues revealed so far? Would you even be into a fantasy-based world spun off from MH?

  1. Curious... Very curious.
    Nice to see Cupid getting some attention (even if I don't really care for her).

    I like that music, too.

    1. I'm wondering just how involved Cupid will be in this overall though? Based on what we've seen it would suggest a lot! But maybe Mattel just wanted to use an MH character to draw fans into this new world, and if this whole thing takes off Cupid will sort of slip into the background? So much to speculate over!

  2. There was some talk awhile back about Mattel copyrighting the name "Fairy Tale High" or something similar... I wonder if that's what this spin-off was originally going to be called and now they've decided to go with Village of Bookend. Either way, I'm super excited about this new spin off line. I really hope it's a doll line of MH-esque fairy tale and/or literature characters!

    1. Hmm, interesting. I have to admit I'll be disappointed if dolls aren't involved somehow. A new webseries would be cool, but I'm really in it for the dolls! lol
      And if Mattel can bring the same sort of attitude and cleverness to the world of fairy tales that they have classic monsters, well, that sounds about perfect to me.

  3. Either way I'm excited for it, but knowing Mattel and their knack at making incredible dolls (if MH alone is anything to go by) my wallet is freaking out in a bad way! I'm already broke as it is! Hahaha! I can't wait for the reveal which would seem to be soon-ish as with websites and theme music (which I'm loving) already set up it would make sense for us to be finding out what this is all about possibly sometime this year.
    :D

    1. I agree -- you can tell Mattel has already put in a fair amount of work coming up with visuals, music, and the start of a "storyline". And of course there are going to be more reveals next week! There's also the matter of the copyrights Astroasis brought up, which started a while back. I'm betting we'll find out what it's all about sooner rather than later. :D

    2. I really hope it is sooner! I'll definitely be checking back to the site over the next few days/weeks. Do you know on what date the sites were launched?
      :D

    3. I believe it was just yesterday. Someone over at Monster High Dolls was able to locate the source codes for each of the different sites and they have a launch date of May 15th! I doubt they'd launch the sites that soon if they didn't have the product -- whatever it is (please be dolls!) -- ready soon after!

  4. Have you been checking out the EAH trademarks thread on MHD recently?
    I saw a pixelated pic of one of the characters, and from what I can see, she looks very pretty.
    Possibly Lizzie Hearts???
    I must say, I'm impressed.
    Funny how Mattel launched the Monster High dolls, then everyone else jumps on the bandwagon, then Mattel goes for a more traditional doll line. Genius. :D

    BTW, that post you made on MHD, you said that you'd like a line aimed at adults;
    An occasional line, maybe one a year, that is designed for and marketed to adults exclusively. It doesn't have to be a huge line, just two or three dolls would do. It doesn't take a genius to see that MH has a huge adult fanbase. How about showing them some love?
    Can you explain in more depth how you'd envision that?
    Like, their outfits or something?

    1. The drawing reminds me a bit of Lagoona, what with the blonde curls and big eyes. The outfit has potential, especially in regards to the possible prints. I'm honestly hoping I hate this doll line so I don't have to spend even more $ on dolls lol.

      I don't think I really had anything specific in mind when I said that over at MHD in terms of designs. I'd just like to see a few small lines that are aimed at adults, not just in however they design them, but in how they promote them. :)

    2. Hmm, maybe in how they differentiate them, similar to how Barbie has different price points and production numbers, based on different "labels". But as for the actual designs, I'd want MH to keep it edgy and different.

    3. Wouldn't that make them a bit redundant, though? :-/

    4. In my mind it makes sense, I'm just not explaining it well :p I'd want something a tad more high end with even better fabrics than what they already use, and designs that are sophisticated but still have an MH edge. Think basic Rochelle's outfit, but even nicer and more detailed.

  5. The official website just got launched;
    Ever After High
    I love Raven Queen the most so far. Consider me a rebel! :D
