Happy Independence Day!

What do Cleo and an Arabian themed playset have to do with Independence Day? Absolutely nothing! I just wanted to take some pics of Cleo! Woo-hoo!

Never let it be said I'm against indulging the Cleo fangirls and fanboys out there.

Wish I looked that good when I'm dead tired.

So Classroom Cleo leaves me feeling mixed -- but she is growing on me!
(And I'm not sure about that outfit I pulled together for her at all. It is a bit skimpy, I guess.)

No mixed feelings about this doll, though! Gorgeous!

I don't know, you guys. I know the Fearleading doll is widely considered the "boring" Cleo, but if you ask me
she's at least as great as the Oasis and Classroom dolls. Probably better. I mean look at that face!

So uh, yeah, Happy Independence Day!

  1. poor cross eyed cleo !! :) both her oasis and classroom dolls eyes look a little weird, i will have to be careful of that when picking mine out bc i definitely want the classroom pack and the heath/abby one... but i stopped by to let you know that on monster high dolls facebook page they released the packaged pic of MF clawd and lala, you should check it out !!

    1. Both dolls have much rounder eyes than usual for Cleo. The mold looks a bit different to me as well, like the cheeks are fuller. I may just be seeing things there, though. In any case, they definitely give her a bit of cross-eye!

Thanks for the heads up! The 2-pack looks, uh, interesting lol. I like Draculaura's extra-pale skin tone there. Not digging anything else about the set. I noticed the next pic they have up is DT Robecca -- she looks pretty great!

  2. Would you believe that when I first discovered MH, Cleo was the doll that I liked the least?! After months of collecting and looking at photos, however, I suddenly became interested in her. In the beginning, I believe I ignored her because I saw her as the most human-looking character; and the more monstrous characters held more appeal for me. When new dolls hit Amazon, I got caught up in the frenzy and impulsively ordered the Ghoulia / Cleo classroom set, and fell in love with Cleo! I really like her hair -- the teal and purple highlights, and the long, straight bangs. The Ghoulia is pretty bangin', too... full, soft, supple hair. Not crazy about the periodic table dress, but swapping fashions is one of my favorite activities, so it's all good. I love when you take photos of different versions of a particular doll, because it helps me determine which one I like best. Although I love my Classroom Cleo, I want the Scaris version, too! It's unfortunate that she comes packaged with a Lagoona that I find unattractive.

    1. Honestly I've always felt Cleo is the least monstrous doll; her beauty is the real draw of her dolls for me. Plus I get such a kick out of her character in the webisodes -- she totally cracks me up! I have to admit you're one of the few people I've come across who says they weren't very into her! But it sounds like you've seen the light ;) Agreed about the teal and purple streaks -- they're easily one of the best things about the doll. The purple is totally new for Cleo -- sometimes it seems like they don't take enough risks or try new stuff on the dolls so I always appreciate when they actually do. I think my favorite thing about the Ghoulia doll is the two-toned sky blue eyeshadow -- I love that color in general and it matches her hair perfectly. Unfortunately my Ghoulia has some odd looking eyes, just like Cleo. I don't know what's going on at Mattel HQ but they need to get it together! I tell anyone who'll listen that they NEED Scaris Cleo, even if they don't realize it yet. She's pretty amazing imo! You can always trade the Lagoona or something!

  3. Like you, I do enjoy Cleo's character in the webisodes as well; and I appreciate her friendship / interactions with Ghoulia. I've also recognized that amongst MH fans, I was unusual in initially ignoring Cleo. My feelings have certainly changed since obtaining this Classroom Cleo, however... in fact, I have her displayed right next to my laptop. (She was my inspiration while working away for hours these past few weeks.) I am so sorry to hear that your Ghoulia is a bit wonky-eyed as well! Did you buy the set from a store, or order from online? I almost always order online and have been mostly fortunate (*knocking on wood*). You are right... I MUST get my hands on a Scaris Cleo, even if it means trading the Lagoona. I have so many Lagoona's already... it's silly.

    1. It's her friendship with Ghoulia where we see Cleo does have a caring, giving side. I love that about her. I honestly think Cleo is one of the most well-rounded characters because she is shown as having both good and bad traits, just like we all do. But even her bad traits are usually fun and funny to watch, so even that side of her is endearing. I just really love Cleo :) I bought the set in-store (TRU) so I really have no excuse lol.

  4. Cleo is growing on me too (the dolls and in the books/webisodes). OH MY RA! I love your Cleo collection.

    1. In the books is Cleo similar to her character in the webisodes? I've heard there are some differences between the books and show with other characters but haven't heard anything about book Cleo. This is actually only part of my Cleo collection -- I don't know if that's really cool or really sad lol. Probably a little of both.

  5. hey at least the MF 2 pack has stands as far as i can see in the pic... but i don't know, they are probably better in person... lately all the dolls seem to be better in person, i think im going to get it bc if i get one in that line i got to get them all, its just the way i collect, its like if i start a line i have to get the complete line... i guess im weird like that... and to comment on your previous statement if that is only part of your cleo collection then consider yourself lucky not sad bc it would be awesome to have some of the older cleos, hell i think the oldest cleo i have is GR... oh wait i do have one older than that, i have schools out cleo but i got her before i started keeping them boxed and i dont have the whole line just her so she is lose but hey i still got her

    1. I don't think it's an ugly set or anything, I guess it's just not my thing. I'm really picky when it comes to Draculaura -- for me to get one of her dolls it has to really appeal to me in some way. But I can see why you'd want it, especially being a line completionist. :) SO Cleo is a great doll -- love that one! If you only have one Cleo unboxed she's a very good one!

  6. Oh. My. Ra! XD Cleo Fangirl #45635 checking in!

Cleo is the only MH doll that tempts me to collect EVERY doll released... Ah, but I must control myself! Somewhat. Speaking of which, I want Scaris Cleo SO badly, but have no real need/desire for the Lagoona that comes with her. The woes of doll collecting... XD

    1. Yeah, it's kind of hard to pass up a Cleo, isn't it? I'm starting to resent Mattel for pairing the Scaris doll up with a lackluster Lagoona -- a lot of people are holding off because of Lagoona. (FWIW Lagoona's Scaris outfit is pretty fantastic! :) )

    1. Yeah, they do work as a pair. They both have their mini travel cases and their dresses have similar cuts. And like you say their personalities play off one another, Cleo the entitled rich girl, Lagoona the big-hearted, friendly one. I don't think Scaris Lagoona is ugly or anything like that, I just think in the grand scheme of Lagoona dolls she's kind of unessential. But I can't hate on her too hard, it is a Lagoona doll after all!

    2. Hmmm... perhaps Scaris Lagoona is one of those dolls that would win me over in-person (I've only seen stock photos). You guys are pushing me closer to getting that 2-pack!

    3. Do it, Eric! Even if Lagoona doesn't win you over, the overwhelming beauty of Cleo will make it worth it. Just trust me on this one. ;)

  8. I quite like what you did with classroom Cleo. She looks like a teenaged boy's fantasy of a teacher. lol

That fearleading Cleo creeps me out, though. I think it's the eyes. :-/

    1. Thanks! It's pretty skimpy but, I don't know, it kinda works I guess. Eh, maybe not. lol. Fearleading Cleo isn't very loved but I think all in all she's pretty cool. :)
