Venus' First Swim
Last week, after picking up all three of the 2013 Swim dolls, I eagerly jumped into reviewing them. You can read about Lagoona here and Draculaura here. I also had a full review of Venus written and ready to go live. The day after I wrote it, but before I had posted it, news about the correct Swim Venus broke. That Venus has the green eyeshadow and light pink lips seen in the box art for the dolls. The doll I had purchased was the first version, basically a re-release of basic Venus with shorter hair in a ponytail and brighter wrist and ankle vines. I decided not to release the review and instead wait until I can get the correct doll to write about. In the meantime, here are the pics I took for that review. It seems a waste not to use them, and these can serve as a sort of teaser until the correct doll shows up. And so here is Venus' First Swim...

Yep! I didn't know this version of her was even incorrect. I wrote a whole review and everything lol.

ReplyDeleteWhile I can only base my opinion on pictures, Venus is the best doll (IMO) & my favourite in the swim line for a multitude of reasons.
For one thing, she doesn't have the frills that Draculaura & Lagoona have. She might be plainer, but she's much more fierce.
Her swimsuit is reminiscent of the colourful Gloom Beach swimwear, with a kind of 80's Miami style, at least to me. Love the wild zig-zag print, and good use of the PVC in the design.
And then there's the fact that this is her first swim outfit, whereas Ula D & Lagoona have already been featured in swim lines.

I feel with Draculaura and especially Lagoona, they did the frills just right. I really love the hard plastic of Lagoona's especially! Tbh I love all three dolls; I'm not sure I could say which I like the best. And, of course, I still have to get my hands on the correct Venus! I love her eyeshadow!
DeleteLate reply... I think the frills remind me of under 10 girls' swimwear, that's why I'm a bit put off. But I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite, seeing as I have swimwear with frills & gathering. lol

At least on the bright side, when you get the correct Venus, you'll have the first one spare to model her inevitable fashion pack.
Speaking of fashion packs, I really hope they do a second wave of deluxe fashion packs later this year.
Cleo is overdue, and I'd love one for Clawdeen, Venus and Spectra (or the new ghouls, Skelita & Jina). :)
YES, Cleo is way overdue on a FP of any kind -- but yes, preferrably a deluxe one. I'd love one for Rochelle, personally. And Venus. And Jina. lol

She never showed up in my area! :( I don't know if they took her out of the shipments or what, but I always see Swim 2013 Lagoona and Draculaura, but never Venus anymore.
DeleteOh, you could try ordering her from Amazon. I got the correct doll from there.

DeleteIt's weird, though. The swim dolls are available in stores here now, and Venus has the correct faceup, so I wonder why she never showed up in your area?
